Ant-Man and the Wasp Reveals Full Cast

Jul 23, 2017 Entertainment Movies

With Ant-Man and the Wasp currently in production, it was only a matter of time before we got more news on the movie’s full cast.

We didn’t have to wait long as the crew at Marvel Studios unveiled a good chunk of the cast at their Hall H panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will reprise their roles from Ant-Man but who will join them? Scroll through the slideshow below to their cast mates as announced by Marvel tonight.

Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne/Wasp

The biggest news of the Ant-Man and the Wasp portion of panel was the casting of former Batman star as the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne.

While the character did appear in Ant-Man, we only got a glimpse of the character’s eyes through a suit as she worked to dismantle a warhead.  That cameo role was instead played by Hayley Lovitt.

Casting a big-time name in this role now, however, indicates that Janet Van Dyne is going to play a much larger role to Peyton Reed’s follow up flick.

Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster/Goliath

Reports surfaced over the past few weeks that Bill Foster could be making an appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp and those reports were confirmed at tonight’s panel.

Dr. Bill Foster — perhaps better known as his superhero alter ego Goliath — is a long-time protégé of Hank Pym and will be played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by no other than Laurence Fishburne.

Fishburne is no stranger to the genre.  His most recent role came in the DC Extended universe as he played Clark Kent’s editor Perry White in both Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman:  Dawn of Justice.

Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo

Another casting that’s been reported for several weeks has been the casting of actor Randall Park as Jimmy Woo and that report is now confirmed.

In Marvel comic book lore, Jimmy Woo is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent but since S.H.I.E.L.D. is practically in a constant state of limbo thanks to the shenanigans of Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his crew on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s entirely possible Jimmy Woo could be an agent of some other federal government entity in this movie.

Arguably his biggest role to date, some of Parks other acting credits come alongside James Franco and Seth Rogen in The Interview and ABC’s hit comedy Fresh Off the Boat.

Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch

While it was previously announced the Walton Goggins would be appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp, it was largely thought he’d play a character such as Crossfire or Taskmaster but at tonight’s panel, he was confirmed to be playing a character by the name of Sonny Burch.

Burch is a character deep in the Marvel mythos.  In the comics, he’s the chairman of Cross Technologies — coincidentally the company we were introduced to in Ant-Man.

He has traditionally been a character rooted in Iron Man lore but now that Cross Technologies itself is based within the Ant-Man franchise, once could assume that Burch will want to get back at Lang and Co. for the destroying the company he so feverishly worked for.

Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost

If you thought they were digging deep to cast Goggins as Sonny Burch, wait until you see this.  Game of Thrones alum Hannah John-Kamen is playing a character called The Ghost.

Another character rooted in the Iron Man mythos, The Ghost first appeared in Iron Man #219 (1987).  While the character originally started out as a supervillain, The Ghost eventually moved into an antihero-type role after joining Norman Osbourne’s Thunderbolts team.

The character was a male figure in the comics and not much is known about his personal background, allowing John-Kamen free reign to put forth her own interpretation.

As for The Ghost’s powers, they’re all rooted in technology in some shape, way, or form, including stealth technology and various kinds of high-tech weaponry.
